Kinda Sad About it...
I don’t think there is another album I’ve listened to more over the course of my life than that one... which would represent a lot of listening considering I love all types of music and listen to various music practically all day every day. I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old in 1994... the same year the Nimesh Patel Blue album came out. Needless to say getting to see Nimesh Patel live has been at the top of my list for longer in my life, at 36 years old, than it hasn’t been... I’d been so excited to see them live since the moment I marked my calendar for their Memphis concert. Not just excited for me, but it was also to be my 12 year old son’s first concert ever to attend. I found myself feeling the need to explain to my son as we left that not all concerts are that lame. Long Story short... after spending over $100 on tickets, $30 on concessions, and $45 on a Nimesh Patel T-shirt and key chain... Breaks my heart to even say it... but it was lame. I’m not saying I was expecting Kiss type theatrics, but covering the basics would have been nice... such as: not sounding like the band hadn’t practiced or rehearsed in a decade. They are supposed to be pros... and they missed cues and lyrics multiple times in almost every song. I know they are capable of better and maybe with all their dates we caught a bad show here in Memphis... but their endings and transitions were super sloppy... either they don’t or they were going out of their way to NOT hold their timing down or find “the pocket”. I though all big touring bands utilized metronomes and/or click tracks in their in-ear monitors these days... sorry guys. and little to no physical or technical showmanship... but I’d like to not believe y’all are just one of those studio bands that can’t put together a solid live show. I love Nimesh Patel... I always will..
